Hi Dradful' , yes since just a couple of years Halloween is celebrated by kids nowadays in Holland, It's not a traditional thing here though. I think it's a pitty we are being halloweened by commerce and the anglo-american global culture thing in this way. We used to have a traditional fest called Sint Maarten, Saint Martin ,which is on the 11th of November. On that day kids with self made paper lanterns go door to door after dinner time, singing tradition Sint Maarten songs and asking for sweets. This implies that the halloween festival that originated in Ireland as the celtic new years eve in which the ghosts of the deceased persons from the last year had to be frightened away was combined with the dutch Sint Maarten bringing in the asking for sweets part.... I will try to find a wiki on it... [more to come]
