I have been on YouTube for quite a while now, and I never was very enthousiastic. YouTube is providing lousy quality as compared to the original uploads. That is why I have been on the look-out for a better service ever since. I tried Revver, Sharkle, DailyMotion, MotionBox and even Microsoft's Soapbox.
And I must say, although some perform better then others and other minor differences all these services fail when it comes to video quality.
The omnipotent Google also offers a video service: Google Video. Without a community or other trivia but with superior upload quality and full screen playability this was all I needed to host my high quality material.
But then one day... most off my uploads were kaputt, gone, deleted, zilched. After inquiring I learned that I "might have broken some copyrights on audio material used" . OK, I might have, since I sometimes use copyrighted music as audiotracks. But I also have videos with my own self-made music and have also used copyright free songs in other vids. But helas, those uploads were also indiscriminately deleted.
Then there was Blip.TV!
Blip.TV offers the uploaded material in multiple formats.
As they put it: "You shouldn't have to choose between great quality Flash video and compatibility with iTunes. Your videos should work everywhere, no question. That's why blip.tv supports every video format under the sun, from Flash 8 (much higher quality than most Flash video) to Quicktime (for the all-important iTunes) to DivX and 3gp (we think cell phones are cool, too)."
Blip.TV also offers impressive distribution options and ways to advertise your video and eventually even make some money. And...Blip.tv does not claim ownership of the materials posted.
I simply love the quality. I have been using Blip.TV for 3 weeks now, uploaded 18 videos sofar and the statistics show I have been noticed.
Please check my Blip.TV channel at Maurits.Blip.TV .
I think also that blip.tv is a better decision to get in with and also they grant better possibility for sharing and assesment for most viewed videos for the 24 hors having just another clarified Blogger public.
ReplyDeleteThe next thing that you should do is to burn a video feed on feedburner and then submit it to a bunch of video directories. I suggest submitting to mefedia, fireanttv, and zencast. This will get your videos even more exposure and also give people out there a chance to subscribe to your work and check out your videos. In my first week on blip.tv 8 people subscribed to my videos. Others have done so through the 3 services I mentioned above. Blip.tv is just so much better then any other service. The main reason is that it is a video sharing sight built by other people that are interested in sharing the bext quality videos! Excellent work by the way! I'll be checking out all of your videos this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys, all very great input, the best kind of comments.

I agree Google Video is great Fabio. That can be expected from the multi minded mass media monster mogul.
Their delay between upload and presence isn't that bad either. That's where YouTube is a drag. Notwithstanding the poor quality, instant bloggability is where YouTube fails, and renders its service useless for a blogger like me.
And they deleted my material, even the ones that didn't have copyrighted soundtracks.
I am still somewhat at loss in the blip.tv website Phil.
Where for instance do I find such a 'best viewed in the last 24 hrs' list?
I am finally seriously gonna use RSS and am ashamed to admit I never looked into it more seriously.
Great suggestion at the right time once more Shawn.
I might get back to you on this if you don't mind.
