This has always been an English language weblog since August 2006 when I started posting here after the demise of Textamerica. I really do love the English language very much to the level that I sometimes prefer to use that so most international of tongues over my own native Dutch.
In January 2008 I had my first doubts on the choice of language to blog in. To find out what the preferred language was I polled my readers. They democratically chose English as the lingua franca to be.
But those days have gone, I am making a despotic decision here:
This weblog is going Dutch!
The reason why is very simple: Business.
I am starting to profile myself as a self-employed entrepreneur and simply need to speak the language of my clientele. Not that the average Dutch person isn't capable of understanding English, on the contrary, but I need to be direct and the use of English would only be an artificial barrier.
But don't dispair. I will add a translate button before writing my first post in Dutch so you global citizens can easily follow all my ravings in Dutch, thanks to Google. I am still checking out on what the best widget to use is. Suggestions are welcome.
In the coming days this weblog will not only change language but I will also amend the layout and will add several pages with specific content for the company that I am now going to be: MauritsBurgers.com.
Wish me luck.

jeps, logische keuze!
ReplyDeletegaat je lukken. be remarkable!
I think voted for Dutch on that poll... Even thought I prefer to read in English without a translation tool, I prefer to see your real language and try to figure out what the translator missed on the process... x'D Congrats and good luck! : )
ReplyDeleteGeluk!
